Our search
firm is engaged with several clients who are seeking Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic
scientists. Our consulting firm works primarily on exclusive and
retained basis and we have been contracted to search for appropriate
talent in Clinical Pharmacology over the next several months.
These organizations are in the process of growing and redefining
their PK/PD organizations; hence the levels and opportunities
vary depending on the individuals' years of experience. These
clients are also open to pursuing fellows who have recently graduated
or will be graduating this year and do not have industry experience.
As a guideline, below is a sample of key responsibilities at the
Associate and/or Director level. To reiterate, the level of autonomy,
size of the organization and leadership accountability will depend
on the candidate. The titles of the positions range from Principal
Scientist, Associate Director, Director to Vice President of global
PKPD.
Associate Director/Director PK/PD
The Associate
Director/Director of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD)
will be the scientific leader and mentor for the PK/PD organization.
Commensurate with their experience, the individual's team could
consist of anywhere from one to twenty or more people. The Director
will provide guidance and leadership for the overall preparation
of project plans, study designs, clinical pharmacology protocols
and for the creation and analysis of PK/PD study reports. It is
the Director's responsibility to ensure that PK/PD studies are
scientifically sound, medically appropriate and are conducted
and monitored according to GCP/ICH guidelines. Studies will be
conducted within, or for, a variety of sponsors including the
world's major pharmaceutical, biotech, and generic companies.
The range of studies will include Pre-clinical to Phase IV trials,
bioequivalence/bioavailability studies, and population PK/PD studies.
The ideal candidate will be a pharmacist with a post-graduate
doctorate in pharmacokinetics/clinical pharmacology or in a closely
related field. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in clinical
pharmacology performing sophisticated PK/PD modeling, interpretation
and analysis.
